France bans seven football fans’ groups over violence

FC KolnThe French government has taken the unusual step of dissolving seven official soccer supporters’ associations accused of being linked to violence.

Interior minister Brice Hortefeux’s decision comes amid widespread concern over hooliganism and some two months after a Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) supporter died following a brutal beating by members of a rival PSG fans’ group. Of the seven banned associations – often known as “firms” – five belong to PSG fans and two are linked to the clubs Olympique Lyonnais and OGC Nice. (more…)

Red Star hooligan, Uros Misic, sentenced to 10 years of prison

Justice for Uros
Red Star fan Mišić (20) was found guilty of attempting to murder Gendarmerie officer Nebojša Trajković on December 2, 2007 at a match between Red Star and Hajduk Kula.

The accused attempted to shove a flare into the officer’s mouth during a riot that broke out at the match. (more…)

New film about ultras, coming up

The film is called “Secondo Tempo”(Second half) and it is directed by Fabio Bastanello. The story is apparently very simple: a cop infiltrated amongst fans of AC Torino in order to try to prevent football violence. A fact that could make the film even more interesting is that it will be shot in only one scene of 105 minutes  long. One terrace, no cuts, no stunts, no doubles, just ULTRAS…

Aris About 25.000 Aris Thessaloniki fans travelled Athens for the final of the Greek Cup for a match against Greece’s new champions Panathinaikos. With such display, the spectacle was bound to happen. And so it did. (more…)

18 cops injured at Greek Cup final

Panathinaikos Serious incidents between Panathinaikos and Aris fans took place before and after the final of the Greek Cup. The fans clashed before the game, 34 of them being arrested and 5 police officers injured. PAO won the game 1-0 and obtained the eighth double Championship-Cup in history. (more…)

Incidents at Juventus- Bari

During last week’s Seria A match between Juventus and Bari, some incidents occured between the two sides of supporters, separated by a historical hate.

Incidents started with the throwing of some bombs to the Bari fans. Redwhite fans then tryed to make contact and enter the Juve side.

Forty Injured In Sarajevo Crowd Violence

fk sarajevo crowd incidents violenceSARAJEVO (Reuters) - Around 40 people, among them 17 police officers, were injured when football fans clashed with police after a 1-1 draw between Sarajevo and Siroki Brijeg late Wednesday, local official said Thursday.

One person was killed in violent clashes between fans of the sides in October, when the match was played in the southern town of Siroki Brijeg and Srajevo supporters had hoped for a victory in memory of their friend, Vedran Puljic.

“You betrayed us,” supporters shouted at players and club management after the game ended. The players managed to escape safely from the stadium.

Fans then clashed with security and police who tried to stop them from damaging the stadium. (more…)

Belgrade: Trial of murdered French football fan begins

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — The trial of 14 hooligans charged with fatally beating a French football fan before a Europa League match last September started Wednesday with one defendant expressing sympathy over the death.

Ljubomir Markovic, 29, said he was sorry about the loss of life but pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder at Belgrade’s High Court.

All 14 defendants are facing the same charge after 28-year-old Brice Taton was attacked in a downtown cafe in the Serbian capital before Partizan Belgrade’s match against Toulouse on Sept. 17. Taton died several days later in a hospital. (more…)
