Many are the
persons who ask ... what is Ultra ?
A question like that has a very difficult answer, but, in my opinion,
it is an intense love, a love which needs to be transmited inside
the pitch, support, criticize...INTERVINE. Intervine in all, from
the life of the club to the way we are.
So following
this, I think that in Portugal being Ultra is in the majority of
the cases a question of fashion. It is with sadness I say this.
If I go to any "Superliga" game, I can see that the groups
have a strong oscillation of people (for example, my group, if we
play against a big team, the number of persons in the group go the
double or more, and why? Love to Beira-Mar ? I don't think so, the
people who love and identify themselves with the club have a regular
presence in our J sector. And why is this oscillation ? The general
part of the people join the groups to see the big games, to have
a card and the scarf or
only to say "I'm Ultra". And these are the guys which
many times rubbish the name
of "their" group.
If we go and ask the people who support their team at all games
i have
absolutly sure that a half or more can underline what I said; and
now i ask:
How can we figth against this situation ? A question to which I
can't find an answer.
Another thing I don't understand is small clubs who have 2 groups,
one
searching protagonism, the others saying that they don't identify
with the
previous group... the result is a very poor support to the club.
But happily there still exists persons who love and feel the group
like a link to
the club, and always think hours and hours about their group and
their club.
That guys are the soul of the group, the guys which give all for
the club
and in the day before the game can't sleep, that guys which go to
stadiums
many hours before the game starts, that guys which don't go to the
school or
to work only to see a game or a training, that guys which stay all
day
painting banners and flags, all this only for their club.
People, help your group, sing for your club, unite in the name of
your ideal!
