How can you explain something like this? I think and I wonder… It is hard to find your words. How can you make someone who hasn’t a clue to understand something that for you is so important. Because this article is dedicated to those who don’t have a clue. To those quiet spectators, to those journalists, to those parents, to those girlfriends, to the majority. To those people who don’t understand us.
I will try to make a short history of this tifo item. As it would be expected, the first scarves appeared in England. Made of thick wool, under the form of simple big stripes, with the colors of the team. Then, with the birth of organized supporters in Italy, scarves and the way they were used (stretched above the head) were also present in Italy. Of course, like it always happens, things evolve. Different way of using the scarf appeared(you know how…). But the most spectacular change was made by their color and their form.. Today we meet very long or very wide scarves, or tiny ones. They are made of a variety of fabrics: wool, polyester, cotton. They use a lot of colors, not to talk about the many badges and symbols. Today they make very specialized scarves: to show your attachment towards the club, towards a player, to express your hate for a club or for a group of rival supporters. Or to commemorate a special day or a hero.

A Pictured Story of the Italian Ultras Phenomenon
Monday, March 8th, 2010At the end of the 70’s, when the concept of “ultras” began to spread, the image of supporters radically changed. New resources and ways of encouraging the team – less known in that period – emerged on the stadiums.
In contrast to the other spectators, the first groups of the Italian ultras used to stand up at the games they attended and permanently sustained their team during 90 minutes by strong shoutings, rhythmical hand claps and also by using the drums.
